KG8EF operated on Museum Ships Weekend

Special event station KG8 "Edmund Fitzgerald"  had a very successful operation during the 2010 Museum Ships Weekend. The folks at the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point were a great host and we had a fantastic time! After making over 1900 QSO's and talking with many people about the "Fitz", it was evident that Edmund Fitzgerald and its crew has a very special status in the annals of Maritime and American history.

Again, we would like to extend a big Thank You to the people at the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum. We were able to operate in a building at the base of Lighthouse USA #887. The accommodations were great!

If any of you are visiting Michigan's Upper Peninsula, we would highly suggest that you visit the shipwreck museum and memorial . It is will worth the drive!

Thanks again for calling into "Killowatt Golf Eight Edmund Fitzgerald"

Operation Statistics:

KG8EF made 1921 QSO's including the duplicate stations that we worked. We were able to work 49 states, 8 Canadian provinces, and 5 DX countries (excluding K & VE). We had at least one QSO with 26 of the museum ships that were on the air. We did not work Alaska (AK). Nor did we work NWT/YK . We seemed to have a pipeline to Ohio. We work 156 Ohio stations.

See the "Statistics Page" of the website for a detailed QSO breakdown. Thanks Again for all the calls!
